As the Class Secretary of a different “development” class, I don’t understand this statement. My reading of the applicable AMYA Bylaws is that the opposite applies. Below are the pertinent AMYA Bylaws.
8.5 Development Classes
8.5.1 In a development class such as Ten-Rater, M or 36/600, it is the yacht that enters the competition, not its owner or skipper. Once a yacht is entered in a competition substitutions are not allowed.
8.5.2 A person may enter more than one yacht, if desired, but each shall be a separate entry and points accumulated by each may not be combined.
8.6 One Design Classes
8.6.1 In One Design classes it is the skipper who is in competition, not the yacht.
8.6.2 Deleted (1987).
8.6.3 A skipper cannot enter more than one yacht in a class competition.
Anyway, in the US One Meter Class we follow 8.5.2.

I’m planning on bringing a ‘Pond Sprite’ and ‘Siren’ as a loaner boat if needed. Siren is FCA registered only, presumably that could be extended to AMYA on the spot with the thrust of $7 into Bill’s hand?
Hey guys…Since we got one weekend to go. I was going to start pouring some lead this weekend…
I will be pouring 6, 7, 8 oz bulbs and for those who want some(free), I can pour some 2-3 lb ingots for those who pour their own and want some free lead. So I don’t come up short or end up carry too much. if ya’ll want to PM me with your requests for bulbs. I can make it happen. They will be free. I had thought about making one for each for each sailor, but Id rather make what you want… 6 and 8 oz can be in the torpedo shape. and 6 7 oz in the cigar shape… ingots are the size of a cupcake mold.
since you don’t do PM’s I will put this here. I will trade you one of each for some syringes for mixing epoxy batches. I could use some models to try different shapes and weights.
Nate
I have trial packed the three hulls I will be bringing along and they all fit ok into my well travelled international shipping crate… erm cardboard box
Four ‘A’ rigs and a ‘B’ for Pond Sprite and an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ for Siren which will be on 82 incidentally. Dragon will be coming along for some long awaited testing on the Friday. Ah less than a week and we will be in the warm and sunny, I can’t wait!
I would think westerly winds would be the best as it appeared more open. If winds are from the North, it can be real fluky as there is a large building (F&K) next to the edge of the pond and an embankment that drops off another 8 feet to water level. There is also an elevated X-way to the east and south. Google Map Firkin and Kegler and you can see the pond layout. It is the right most pond. F&K is a neat place with Pub & Bowling, etc. They have a web site. There is a 100 store mall just to the west & 30 eating places. See ya soon.
That’s correct, the extended forecast looks pretty good for next week. Your comments are generally true about the pond and the wind, but despite the bridge on the East side, the wind still seems to fill in well but the water stays very flat. We sailed SeaWinds and Solings in 25+ easterly with an anemometer at pond level reading 37 kt gusts, mostly doable because of the short fetch.
The building being on the North can make things interesting but because the course in set up on the East side of the pond a Northerly tends to come around the building and act much like an Easterly.
For the best view of the pond, go to www.sundaysloopers.com click on the photo gallery link in the lower left and there you will see an album of the venue with shots from various locations.
For those coming to Orlando early, the pond is always open for practice.
Interesting, ffrank’s forecast is at odds with the NWS for Friday and saturday, they are talking about peak winds of 5mph from SW to SE wunderground, so don’t leave your big A rigs behind. But as Darrell say’s the weatherwill do what it willdo, and 6 days forecasts in Florida aren’t that accurate. See you on the water. Paul.
I like www.myforecast.com because it works good on my Palm Pilot “Centro” phone, has 15 day forecast feature and includes wind direction and strength trends for the day.
Today’s NCR venue sailing conditions. Like most of the Eastern US our forecast was for heavy winds, thunderstorms etc. so we went to the pond anyway. The wind was 15-25kts from the West, which has the longest fetch for the wind. Pretty much all whitecaps and 6-9"waves. I sailed my depron Razor with the small rig and Charles Samaha sailed his new boat against another boat for the first time, but only brought his tall rig.
Basically no problems sailing upwind with the Razor doing better as I was not overpowered. Downwind Charles was quicker but on the edge in the stronger gusts.
Next week the winds wil be what they will be and that’s the joy of sailing as well will be facing the same conditions.
Wind forecast looks light to moderate. I still haven’t built a storm rig and probably won’t.
Hey Latitude, we need to get a photo of our boats sailing together. I’m bringing FatBob, a maximum width hull. It’s more of a heavy air design but I like it.
For those who are still packing for Orlando, I’d recommend a light jacket/sweater for the early morning and short sleeves for the afternoon. We will have some sunscreen at the venue, for those who haven’t had much sun to screen lately.
