I’m probably being a little unpatriotic not supporting O.R now there’s a Brit aboard (Ben Ainslie) and they’ve found a winning streak (coincidence or not?!!), but I still want ETNZ to take the cup from Ellison. So long as Barker can keep a cool head & not let Spithill get the better of him in the pre-start duels (wasn’t it back in '07 that the Italians named him ‘Pitbull’ ?) then the ‘Auld Mug’ will be going down under.
In reality, whoever takes the cup, it’ll be a win for the antipodean countries - seems that whoever is rolled out for the post race press conference speaks with an Aussie or Kiwi accent!! (other than Ben)
Edit: Also, ETNZ have got to win with a margin greater than 2 to secure the moral victory.
oh my god today’s race is postponed and this is getting so frustrating ! well I have been behind ETNZ since the beginning and this won’t change GO ETNZ - but no I’m not gonna say it (only one more win …) as the presenters seems to only have that to say !
I really felt for the boys of ETNZ yesterday - OR can thank their good angel for that !
hey tomorrow there may be too many fish in the sea to sail fair they may postpone again !
It talks all about the AC72 stuff, I mean everything that people like us already know or see daily on the NBC broadcasts, but it doesn’t disciss the really imprtant stuff like who or how did they came up with the concept of the 72-foot wingsail cat thing. Maybe someone here knows that part.
The surprising thing I learned from this short programme is that NBC was PAID, by the AC organisation, to broadcast the Cup, because NBC still thinks that “sailing is boring, and nobody wants to watch it- the real money is in NASCAR.”
Sure, go ahead and race your Nas-T-Cars in the bay
BTW- when I menion the LiveLine graphics on the TV broadcasts, people STILL insist that it was all invented for football!
I got a strange idea like DB today refused to race.
At the last gate 4 ETNZ was very speedy and reducing very fast the distance, when suddently decided to bear away !!!

Quote of the day coming from Glen Ashby “It was a hole(y) day today”
Oracle were in the right places at the right times & did far better job than ETNZ in “those” conditions
If ETNZ don’t get the win today, then the Oracle two race penalty debate raises it’s ugly head again … why am I thinking AC 34 is going to leave a bad taste …it was always a dumb decision to have O.R -2 points before the AC started.
Was not Oracle the winner, but rather ETNZ the looser !!!
Also in the Italian press they wrote similar things, ETNZ totally absent from the race and with 3 to 5 knots slower…may be different rig setting ? …

I could not watch the last race. Took the lesser of two evils and cleaned the modelling room.
Barker said they rigged for higher winds forecast to be building, that did not eventuate, but that did not cause them to loose the race.
ETNZ milking AC 34 for higher rating (sponsor pull) for next AC 35 in Auckland ? … at the expense of Oracle !? that would be a good movie … And Brad Pitt & George Clooney (Oceans 11 & 12 fame) play who in the movie ?
The International Jury, at the request of OTUSA’s legal team, reversed it’s former decision to penalize two points, deciding that the $250,000 fine was enough, restored the two points, giving OTUSA an even score. So the next point scored by OTUSA wins the Cup!
-In my country there is a proverb that says “think wrong and be right”, maybe you have a saying for this, the major league baseball are almost always decided in the seventh game, and it is understood, is spending so much on advertising, and other things, that more games are more seating tickets, and therefore more money, to be recovered for the benefit of all.
