this will be yet another AC for the courts to play with, and will go down as yet another debacle…
just sail the 45’s guys and be done with it…

O.R now have both of their boats on the water, this will give them huge opportunity to fine tune boat 2 (which ever that is) and experience in practising and developing racing tactics that the others don’t have…
A while back in this thread or another but it was before the AC72 ever touched water I had said that I they should stick to the AC45 as it managed to generate interest from so many countries and they provided a great spectacle - and found them extrem as they were already. So yes despite admiring the AC72 of ETNZ and Prada they still have not changed my mind that this was a big mistake to go 72. Having so many challengers would have revived the LVC with what looks like a pretty even fields with the French, Italians, NZ, and lately GB not forgetting the Sweedish team sharing victories. it would have provided one hell of a LVC - Leaving Oracle looking at this and wondering if they can defend the cup.
overall making for a much better spectacle for all of us, instead they are limited to really 2 challenger and what will probably be ETNZ challenging for the cup at the AC vs Oracle … boring :sleep::sleep:
L.R back on the water doing some rudder elevator trim adjustments … within the rules of course
these boys have some balls to do that at the speed these boats go at. Had seen it during the VOR when they do some maintenance or to clear some rubbish that got caught on the side boards. But that is really taking it to a new level !
Dean Barkers blog on the rule changes. Note concern if crew member fell over board:rolleyes:
On the same day appears ETNZ & LR have been back-doored by Coast Guard permit
Well that’s the AC ! … now time to get focussed.

get the computers at work warmed up… or get home early…
bugger, 12:15 start times…which means 3:15 ion the east coast…hopefully they will have streaming replays…
Marc, do you know of any live broadcast for L.V.C, I understood nothing live until the AC final begins …Sept 7th ?
How does everyone think the L.V.C will play out ? the Round Robin series will be only between L.R & ETNZ assuming Artemis will be a no show then both L.R & ETNZ will go automatically in L.V.C final (begins Aug 17) therefore the R.R will be a non-event or just show boating as neither L.R or ETNZ will want to show their cards to O.R …
I have to imagine, that the races will be streaming online…but nothing posted as of yet…
I don’t think ETNZ will have to show all of their cards to be in front of L.R.
aren’t there practice races right now, from monday to wednesday?

(hope john navas can help out)
Yes practice is virtually everyday, weather dependant of course.
So much for all this talk about T.V coverage NOTHING !!! this is going to be a Internet AC, finally found a channel, unsure of which countries it will be streamcast in, I know it has been blocked in NZ !
how to watch blocked videos…hope it works for ya…

Well that’s easy, Artemis will sail in the final against Oracle. The US Coast Guard has decide so. Both LR and ETNZ don’t have “legal” boats … So, no need for RR live coverage (or any type of coverage) until the finals.
I guess it would not be the americas cup with out some controversy… Sigh…
I’m sure Sir thomas Lipton and a few others are rolling in their grave…again…
I’m sure it is and once again it is in my view another trick up OR sleeve to try to catch up on the challenger’s performance as it seems they are different and I too don’t see the new rule as being safer at all… when will the AC be a cup won on the water and not in court ??? they should have left it to the AC45 - too late now.
On another topic any update on Artemis racing ? are they really working on artemis 2 ? or will they fix v1 to be on the starting line ? they’ve been really quiet over the past few weeks
It’s certainly a continuous issue right now, but it is obvious O.R boat 1 and boat 2 had balance problems and the only solution was to use adjustable elevators to control flight stability, Max Sirena from L.R is clearly upset about this issue and try’s to explain it in this vid …
Regarding Artemis, they do have a new boat 2 (Blue Hull Foiler) being assembled and stress tested in the hangar now, but as they had no wing following accident, understand replacement wing it is not far off being ready.
Was some chatter about possibility of boat splashing late this week for more testing … but !? have to wait and see.
All teams on the water together yesterday with A.R on their AC 45’s … what it should have been
Hard to tell O.R boat 1 & 2 from one another until 3:10 thee can see the “soft” compared to the “stiffy” version & mast rake differences.
L.R have new foils and looking like they getting faster every day … :watching_
Getting really interesting as Iain Murray now threatens to scuttle the event if safety recommendations are not accepted by International Jury meeting next week … this is turning into a soap opera & the legal beagles ain’t in the picture yet.
I thought Murray was supposed to be independent…
It seems to me that if NZ can produce a platform using the initial rules that’s stable, fast & safe, then all should be able to without the need for a rule re-write. Just because other teams’ designs are apparently woefully inadequate from a ‘safety’ perspective (should that be written as unreliable and/or not fast enough?), should the design criteria be re-visited? Simple answer: No. They may have produced boats ‘unsuitable’ for SF but that’s surely more fool them. If I were to enter a regatta with a new boat, I’d ensure it was suitable for the prevailing conditions - if it wasn’t, I’d lose, simple really.
Sadly, this is going to go the way of the majority of recent AC campaigns, the New York Courtrooms. Then the team that wins is the one with the best/most expensive lawyers. It makes a complete mockery of the R&D processes and then the performance on the water that the ‘best’ teams go through. When we watch a race where no handicapping is in place we expect the boat that crosses the line first to win and not for a result to be subsequently overturned by a judge who probably has little or no practical experience of racing.
Row
I agree with you Row ETNZ are flying fine and safe (well as it can be anyway) and OR have been in ETNZ and LR shadow from the begining and it looks like again they’ll try every trick in the book to regain an advantage. I would be as annoyed as Max have to say and rightly so - where else do you see a rule change a few days before a major event ?
Once again it makes a mockery of the cup which is sad really cos it’s such a great event (well before) and after the last cup joke they managed to recover with the AC45 - once again they should have sticked to them and everyone would have had a great time.
Best sailors in the world ! no only some of the best. Biggest sailing event certainly not !!! sad really.
It doesn’t remove the specacle an AC72 can give though - they are pushing the boundaries and in style - would love to see them in action with my own eyes though !
Have seen the MOD70 and they are so majectic.
Listening to Ian Percy at the Press conference it seems they will have a boat and wing thanks to some support from the other teams but they don’t seem to be in with the view to win it but rather participate at this stage. Fair play to them - at this late stage and against well oiled teams such as ETNZ and LR they’ll have little chance so again I say fair play to them and I wish them well.
