I have been doing some work on my US 26 Courageous. Test installed and test floated the boat. I have made both the main rudder and trim tab.
Done for tonight. Epoxy hardening. I have removed more than a kg from the front of the keel since the test float picture. She is bow heavy in the picture.
Other than that, I’m very happy with the deck flange. Makes the hull very rigid and easier to work with.
If anyone has the drawings for US 61 and wants to share those with me, that would be a cool next build.
The lead weight is 19.6kg or 43 pounds. Pretty heavy
I love this scale. I might build another Columbia, and make it scale 1:10.6 like my other two twelves. This is if I can’t get hold of the drawings for US 61 that is. US 55 Stars and Stripes would also be cool to build, or Kookaburra III.
A two month bathroom restore followed by a Carpal tunnel operation has slowed me down significantly…
I bought a 3D printer, and have spent time designing a new Marblehead that finished printing yesterday. Now I’m printing Australia II. After Australia II I will print US 55 Stars and Stripes, if I can get the model
looking OK. I don’t have the frames for US 55, and are forced to reverse engineer it. The Marblehead picture is taken on my cat’s own chair… If you wondered…
Hi Lars,
it look very interesting.
How many printing sections ?
What is the weight and hull thickness ?
What about the strength ?
Sorry for the questions
Cheers
Claudio
Hi Lars,
in this forum the subject was treated several times.
It may be sufficient to search for : Claudio Gadget, Gadget, etc. Sail Making.
What I can do at glance is to attach a PDF paper written by Eric Rosenbaum.
I will search for more pictures … done
Cheers
No worries Claudio. I bought a book. The big America’s Cup book. Really cool! Will digitize Fredom and Vim and a couple of more 12mR’s.
My hand is slowly getting better, and I will work on Courageous this weekend. I’m printing Azzurra right now. I had some pretty big problems with the Cura 3.1 slizing software, but 3.2 seems to work a lot better.
I’m also thinking of printing Australia II in a slightly smaller scale. My hobby room is filling up with hulls…
I’m very sorry to hear about your back. It is really tough to have back problems. I should not complain, I knew it takes time to heal after a Carpal tunnel operation.
I’m printing Azzurra I4 right now. I also went and bought 200kg of lead this morning. A lot was lead cable, and I will melt and make lead bricks tonight or tomorrow (depending on the weather).
Posting a picture of the Azzurra stern.
Once again thanks for your help on the Claudio gadget! Really smart design!!
