instead of gym you can try sailing on multiple of lakes etc
Haha, yes it is going to be a brute to lug around. I installed the deck last night. Will do some sanding today, and laminate the top of my deck.
It turned out good, and it always feels good to put the deck on a new boat. Big step.

Painting the boat, and making a mess in my shed…
Impressive job !

Thanks a lot Claudio. Means a lot coming from you. I will paint the keel this weekend. On a business trip until Friday.
Painted the keel last night. Wet sanding and polish next.
I noticed a hollow profile at the fin attachment, see pics. Wanted so or optical effect ?
Cheers
Yes Claudio. You are right. I will add some filler and respray that area. Thanks for catching that.
Lars
Looks fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Paint sand polish…
More work on Australia II today. It is getting there. Still needs some more blue paint on the keel.
One of the best built i saw on that forum.Keep on working like that.Fantastic!!!Gilles B.
Thanks Giligan, I’m hoping to inspire by posting pictures of my build. I’m working on the mast now. 238cm! Made from one 14mm and one 12mm tube. Will post some pics of the rig soon.
Thanks for your kind words. Lars
After my last test float, I decided to remove close to 1kg from the keel, to float more on the marks.
Test float #2 this evening. I’m pretty happy with how she floats now. The rig will add some weight, and I can play with where I place the batteries.
I have been working on the mast and boom. Made from 14mm and 12 mm carbon fiber tubing. I’m pretty happy with the result.
I have cut 1 kg of weight out of the back end of the keel.
While I fixed the rudder area of the keel with diviny cell foam, I decided to fix the wings. The wing still needs some filler to get the correct wing shape. New pictures later this week.
Worked on the rig and the keel this weekend. Will paint the white tonight.
Hi Lars,
Observing the side view I got the impression that the mast is rather tall.
Copied the picture and scaled to real sizes for 19.22m hull length and 25m mast height.
Your mast appear 26m height according to real size.
The real mast was also rather bent, are you going to use it in this configuration ?
See picture
Cheers
Claudio
Hello Claudio. I used this side view of A2 and brought it in to SolidWorks. Scaled the drawing to the 1.8 meters that my model is and got the mast height 2.38meters.
If I take 25 meters and scale 1/10.72 I get 2,33meters which is 4.5cm shorter than my current rig.
Hi
Considering the scale you used ,2.38/2.40mt is correct for the mast height if the hull is 1.8mt. Here the picture taken from the “AC bible”.
Having said that, I wonder if the mast is too high considering the CE position against CG of the keel.
You have certainly better experience than me with this size of models.
Cheers
