looking back throught the posts we have going here, i wonder, would it be helpful to compile a list of “where we are now rules” and updating it as new ones come along? that way, anyone who happens to drop by can get to the point without trawling through an entire thread. and it also might help us as a solid ageed upon referance as we hash things out. i am NOT repeat, NOT suggesting drafting rules, just suggesting gathering all the thoughts that might put peramiters on what is done all in one spot.
ya, i was thinking a durex scheme on my footy.
just fer jokes…the whole foot-long thing
Uh oh… YKH might see theose things and start to complain about every little word… I think it might be good anyway, for the more serious crowd, but a little more discussion first.
420, shall this do.
Entry Criteria :
Boats must be Self-designed or replicated based on a “Real” Yacht with maximum LOA of no greater than 100feet (30metres). Exceptions MUST apply for dispensation from the Governing Authority.
Boats must be of the scale of 1/10 of a Real Yacht with LOA no greater than 100feet (30metres). Unless otherwise stated above.
Boats must be if self-designed “realistically” acceptable as to be scaled up to mirror the real thing.
Fittings, Deckhardware and hatches must be fitted, however they need not work. “Static” fittings are encouraged where appropriate to the Real thing.
Oversize hatches to cater for spinnakers are allowed providing there is just cause to fit dis-proportionate deck openings. I’ve added this as Wildcard carries a 1.5sm Kite that won’t go thru and opening any smaller.
Boats complying with 1/10th Scale Class are only allowed 1 rig, multiple rigs are not allowed.
Boats complying with 1/10th Scale Class are allowed “Reefable” or “Reefed” mainsails and a choice of working headsail sizes.
Boats are allowed Spinnakers, Overlapping headsails and Gennakers.
Boats are allowed Canting Keels if used as part of the design on the Real Yacht. Self designed yachts may include Canting Keels that reflect the genre the boat was designed for.
Boats are allowed water ballast if considered an integral design aspect of the real thing.
Boats MUST be able to sail in a reasonable, unhindered fashion and show acceptable Navigation on all points of sail.
There shall be further Rules however each Rule should be agreed to and signed of to become part of the Classes entry Requirements.
Is there these Initial Rules could be placed where we won’t have to go find them all of the time.
Cheers,
HcW…

The miniature Harken line is vast. The number of fittings to be available will be many. I am very much interested to sponsor 1/10 new models worldwide with our hardware, but…
Any suggestion on how to do this without causing a fuss?
Research and development will always be a part of model building in whatever scale.
I am open for suggestions.
Thank you, Dean Derusha
What? No mention of the ERS? What would YKH say about that?
thanks guys, i think that will make things clearer as we move forward… i hope you didn’t just do that for me?
tomo, who IS YKH? i have been meaning to ask…
Well I have put a plea out to a few of the yacht design firms that have given me drawings in the past, asking if they are willing to do so on a larger scale to help promote the class. I won’t let their names out unless they agree but let’s all keep our fingers crossed that they will and it will be easier to get actual design drawings from which to build our boats. I should have answers by the end of the week so I will keep everyone updated if we have any victories.
Sorry, but I can’t help myself !
1/10 Scale Boats Are Really cool !
But then, so are big multihulls !
THINK BIG !
got your attention - right?

i have my stations drawn.
in time, funds will get inventory for plugs and molds.
high-end reinforcement material inventory was just topped up,
so it seams time to build an open 60 1/10 scaler.
i’m so excited…been itching to start on this.
I dare say guys we might have hit a cord with the outside World with the 1/10th Scale Concept.
Crikey even a certain DL thinks that we’ve found a winning formula.
Except he said we should use a bigger scale and have less size options. Totally flies in the face of what we’ve achieved thus far I would have thought.
Anyway from those I’ve spoken to there is a real buzz as to the prospects of our Potential Class, and I must say that it’s given many renewed vigour to get back out there and build their Steinlager Whitbread ROW Maxi, Ross 780, Mumm 30 (Permission pending) etc…etc…
I suggest we all take a bow, cause things are now well and truly a foote.
Happy Days, HcW…
Maybe could get the mould for one of the reject AC bidders? Thy must have a dozen designs that they went through to get to Vallencia.
Can anyone invest some effort into a web page devoted to this class?
Any interest for this site? Wanted to ask so that perhaps we can grow this idea. Input? Thank you ,DD
we could start a yahoo group
A yahoo group would be best for now, no one would need to invest too much time into a website and they alreayd have everything set up for posting messages, file downloads and what not.
I also vote Yahoo Group.
Yahoo groups not friendly toward Firefox ! Seems to only like IE as browser.
On a reflective note regarding sail numbers - could also “allow” a country code for duplicate boats. Just a thought.
If sail numbers are assigned by country - it would do two things - reduce numbers of scale boats all trying to have the "real boat’s sail numbers - and more importantly, final registration with sial number assignment would not protect numbers for someone who never finishes the build.
Thus if real boat number was 24 - anyone wanting that number woul dhave to be first finished and registered in order to get it. Would this help promote a realistic build time? Not sure, but just a passing thought.
Register today ! with HcW - I guess, unless number assignments come from within the country.
Ok I have been lurking for a while.
What a great idea for a class.
When time and space requirements premits I would look at building “Big Red” Peter Blakes “Steinlager”. The best looking IOR boat ever built.
The proposed rules would accommadate the mizzen staysail with the purlal hatches
“Oversize hatches to cater for spinnakers are allowed providing there is just cause to fit dis-proportionate deck openings”
i use firefox on my mac, and have no problems with yahoogroups… do you have the newest version?
I’m running 1.5.0.10 version. I always have to jump over to IE v7 in order to get into the groups disussions or files/photos. I see that they are pushing v 2.0 so will download later tonite and give it a try tomorrrow.
I initially thought it was that silly Windows/Mac thing.
are you on a mac too? yay mac!:zbeer:
yah, try the new update… otherwise, i don’t konw what to tell you… have you checked your preferances? maybe it is blocking it out… i know the new yahoo mail beta doesn’t work on safari, and so i use firefox for that…
