Besides torge and speed could someone shed some light on which winch would be better for an IOM, Hitec HS-785 or the Hitec HS-725 and are the advantages be worth $10.00 moe for the 725[:-boggled]
i have used the hitec drum winch in most of my IOMs. but the draw back to them is they are slow. and if you wanna race in a competetive group. you may want to look into the rmg line of winches. they are strong and fast and expensive. the drum winch from hitec 725 is only $80 usd. and it does the job for me. the only thing i am thinking of doing is trying to modify the winch. maybe give it , its own battery pack. that may help with the speed.

as I am heading into IOMs…it seems that most of the guys are using the RMG 280…though someother are using a sail arm.

Hi As a point of interest, the club I race with has a very healthy fleet of IOM,s mostly TS2 but a growing fleet of Disco,s and then a mix of others. every boat has a RMG whinch,the 280,the other common factor is that everyone of the IOM boats all run a 5 cell1800 or better battery pack, this gives them enough power to run all day or up to twenty races without failing, with consistent speed at race 20.
