Vision Sails " Simpatico" build log

Some more progress and pictures.
I decided to use two carbon tubes for the keel, glued together.
The ply skins were prepared with a balsa core. I glued balsa to
the ply. Then used a piece of steel 1/2 the diameter of the carbon
tube and a razor plane to do the rest.
The whole fin was then glued together with epoxy.

Hey Kurt,

Great Job! Looks really nicely done.

Brian

More progress.
889 grams as you see it in the pic’s , that includes the keel bulb
no radio gear.
The keel still needs to be reinforced with fiberglass.
What weight fiberglass (I don’t have any carbon fiber on hand)
should I use?

Hey Kurt,

Looks Great! You build them better than I do!

On your keel, use any 4oz-60oz cloth…on the bias.

On your bulb, in the picture it is upside down…in case you didn’t know.

Brian

what was the bulb weight? Pulled a hull 16 off the building board this morning and 105g for the glassed hull.

The bulb is 601 grams.

Brian is this correct?(see picture)

with 600g in the bulb, it should work well. Any chance we will see a simpatico in Albuquerque?
