Phanchita (Sirit), who unfortunately still hasn´t got his internet connection re-installed,
just informed me that during the last two months 150 (!) RT65 plans have been downloaded and 78 (!) mini40 plans of “Nightmare MkVII + Mk.VIII”.
good to hear people are interested, it’s an amazing boat and it’d be good to find a good home for it. some photos are attached.
the boat is in good shape. some small surface rust here and there on bits of rigging and some bolts, but nothing at all problematic. has a winch, radio, rudder servo, remote. all the rigging and sails are there. haven’t sailed it in years, but it worked fine when I packed it up. took it out and assembled it for photos, so everything is still there.
as far as price… I’m really unsure. you guys know this much better then me. what seems fair/reasonable? i’d rather get a bit less and a good home. i really have no expectations, it’s just such a shame to see it sitting at my parents house.
the boat was also shipped in an amazing stage equipment shipping case. plywood in aluminum. roller wheels. fits in perfectly. it was airfreighted from austria in it without a scratch. if it’s being shipped in the states, it may not need it, but if it’s being shipped internationally, it’s a great option. the case would probably cost a bit extra, as i really wouldn’t mind keeping it.
This pink “Lead Duck Killer” was built by me in 2001 as an improved sistership to my first big rc-trimaran “Neonmonster”.
(The name Lead Duck Killer - original in german Bleienten-Mörder or Austrian/Viennese slang “Bleiantn-Meada” -
came from the fact, that Austrian rc-monohull-sailors rapidly took their models out of the water as soon as I showed up with the tri - allthough I didn´t intend to damage their boats at all - ggg - cowards!)
With forward curved alloy crossbars, thinner laminate and swing rigg.
Weight reduction from 10 kg to 8 kg, if I remember correctly.
I took a chance on your nightmare VII. I have built a cat before. ( my own design and it did not turn out too well) so I thought after 7 IOMs and 2 Marblehead’s and 1, 3 r… I thought it would be time to try and multi-hull. I still don’t have the plans… but I am going to post a build thread to help others get started, Maybe I can restart the class in my area. a few of the members in my club was floored by The America’s cup ( covid is good for a few things. they were forced to watch the races) now they all want to build foilers ( I got them convinced to build a simpler boat) does your plans come with a sail plan?
