This is a 48" J-class America’s cup racer. I just brought in 4 hulls from the Christchurch Model Yacht Club. They’re all staying in the club for now, but they’re simply beautiful! Take a look - I can never remember the URL, but google “Canterbury J yacht” and you’ll get their site…
There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Kenneth Graeme, Wind in the Willows.
Two new classes that are bringing back the classics! Who’s gonna be the first to have a whole set, a Mini-12, Canterbury J, EC-12, Newport 12, and a J What a group that would be…
The deal: I was dealing with Rob Condliffe of the Christchurch MYC. Bringing in a single boat is prohibitively expensive due to freight. BUT - 4 boats fit into the same box. Ain’t that nice - all I had to do was talk 3 friends into it.
Once all was said and done (and Rob is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever dealt with), we decided that shipping the leads was too expensive. I received a male mold (in plastic of some sort), 4 hulls and a set of building instructions for $US 350 shipped to my local post office. No deck - that was part of the agreement.
The exchange rate fluctuates. Rob has also said that the price might climb, but that’s OK - right now it’s one of the best deals on the planet, and the 'glas work is simply outstanding. (If I was lazy, I’d wax it and leave it at that).

Love the Cant J’s, And as Dick said, (once I have money, I’d like to have em all)(EC12, N12, Mini12, J, and mini J).
Have you or your other builders had any luck with the radial jib fitting, or at least tried it out. Wonder if they gave you info on it’s availabilty for us non-machinist types to purchase. Looks like just what I want for an EC12.
