Sorry to cut in to your conversation JD. I wonder if you could tell me what sort of keel I should put on my 10Rr. Should I put a cut down version of a 10r or just use the hole(tongue) in the hull to fit a more lateral area keel?
Steve,
Hello,

Don,
Rudder linkage. This is going to be tough to describe and tougher to take a picture of,so here goes with the words. I brought the rudder tube and shaft almost to the deck. Then I soldered a brass tube that would fit over the rudder tube to the collar that screws to the rudder shaft. This tube then extends over the rudder tube down to the bottom of the boat.I soldered the rudder arm to the bottom of the outside tube. I used a couple of ball joints in the linkage and voila! it works.Simple eh! Yes it has a keel trunk for a drop keel. I got a little carried away with the “scale stuff” so it will be a little tough to rig and un-rig(de-rig?) so I will probably transport it assembled. Its 60" from tip of bowsprit to end of the boom and 72" from the keel to the topmast so it will be a chore but I’ll find a way.
