We were testing my last set of sails and ran into a problem. On one tack the main looks pretty good, on the other tack the main is all wrinkled. They look like overbend wrinkles, maybe 4 or 5 of them from the luff angling down. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this? The sail is made of Trispi(25 or 40,I’m not sure at the moment) it was quite windy, maybe 20-25K. Any guesses, I’m kind of stuck for an answer.
Thanks

Make sure the mast itself is straight. Make sure it is centered when rigged. If you have lowers make sure one side isnt tighter than the other. Make sure the clew of the sail isnt attached to the boom at a skewed angle(portside or starboard side). Make sure the luff of the sail is running straight up the mast. if you tie the sail on see if the wrinkles start at any of the ties-retie looser if necessary. If all the above is done and checking out ok rig the sail so you can reproduce the wrinkles. Put your finger on the front side of the mast and push back. If this cures the problem then if your class permits try adding lowers. If they dont then bend the mast less. OR cut a new suit of sails with more luff curve in that area. Pretty much everything I can think of…BT
