So with the Sail shape indicator stripe on IOM sails, where do you want them and are they 45 to leech or luff?

90 degrees from the luff. ( See John`s description below which is a better explanation.)
Three only on the main, two only on the jib.
Equidistant on both sails.
Maximum thickness 30mm

To add to Ian’s answer,

I would say "horizontal’ rather than specify an angle to the luff. “Horizontal” covers the jib as well as the main.

The IOM rule says up to three on the main and up to 2 on the jib. Must be painted or ink. Max 30mm (no min specified).
