And I logged in from Fenton, Michigan USA and got it in Spanish. I was using my Sprint Centro Palm Pilot phone. Will have to try with the PC.
Strange and Interesting. Thanks for the input.

Frank, if you look at http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/0H7CSDK_TuHABAsrzd1sdZSAh5kvVINMJJwBqPCk_XhOyG_l1BZtoM0_cL6sBhmXYgLq30C_s6vMQyLNr46qZfUlREGVEX0ZbgA/Reglas_RG65_GB-1.pdf you’ll find an English version of the class rules, hopefully better translated than the Google version.
Have a look at the rest of the site as well; it’s a mine of info.
Jib build nearly complete - and testing fit on Hull #1
Attached to temporary forestay and final location will be aft so leech is a bit more parallel to mast. Also missing jib boom in this photo.
Hi guys–thought it was time to post a photo of the Albuquerque RG65 contingent. These five boats have been sailing for about six weeks now. The center boat is a JIF 65, and the other four are using Earls ABQ65 hull. Two other boats are also under construction. Sure hope some of you can make the Rio Grande Cup Regatta Oct 18-19. Skippers are, L-R, Jim Scheibner-99, Stephen Bailey-67, Michael Jiron (not registered), Earl Boebert-1, and John Bannerman-7.
Is it possible to attach names with faces?
Often we read posts or receive correspondence from people, and I appreciate being able to attach the names. If some are reluctant to share the info, I can understand, but for those not shy, or in a witness protection program ( ) it would be a nice touch.
Thanks for the considerations - and thanks to the guys building and sailing these little “gems”. Too often we simply take for granted it’s “just another member” so it’s time to start acknowledging those who are making our hobby/sport so much fun.
From the land of “fly-overs” - thank you to all of the Albuquerque fleet who are participating in this class. KUDOS to you all !
EDIT - ADDED PHOTO: I guess since I suggested it, might be reasonable to also do my own. And yes - I’m 35 years old, 165 lbs. 6 feet 2 inches tall, a former men’s clothing model… and not at all what you expected - right? Now I’m losing hair, gaining weight, have shrunk to about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was fired from my modeling job. Oh yeah - also gained a few years in age as well. As always - promoting AMYA and Model Yachting magazine!
and that will be me… taken on october 2007 at Pucon, Chile.
Cheers
German
… and that’s me
I modified my post of yesterday to add skipper names, note skippers are not shown in chronological order!
HI Shakyjim:
May be in the picture the skippers are not in chronological order, but it is very well balanced with the biggest bellys at the center!!!
I wil, try to post a photo of the fleet in my area.
Tato Lazo.
RG-65 Class Translation Requested
Please take a look at this web page link - and the two documents that are linked on the left side of the page. They can be downloaded in Spanish, but the document is in PDF format and there is no way that I know of to submit it to on-line translation software since it can’t be copied and pasted.
The link is:
http://www.rg65.org/documentosdocumentation/lang-pref/en/
And the documents cover:
ICA Statutes
ICA Regulation
I am wondering if anyone with a really good grasp of Spanish is able to translate to English. I can always clean it up after translation, so just getting the concept of the document parts may be sufficient. Alternatively, if someone wants to just speak it in English into a tape recorder, I can transcribe it here.
Please let me know if you, or anyone your know, can assist with this request. Many thanks ahead of time. I would like to use these documents to build the US RG-65 Class Association documents such as Constitution and Bylaws and want to be sure we cover, but do not change any of these accepted international regulations and then compare to AMYA documents.
Feel free to email me off-line or private message me if you have questions.
Dick, I’ve pm’ed you, but in the meantime the pdf can be copied and pasted into a Word doc and then submitted for “Googling”.
You won’t go far wrong looking at the IOM statutes and by-laws to get a close translation as well.
Martin - sent you a reply. I’m going to look.
I did try an OCR scan, but the conventions and spelling confused what is an English to English conversion. Will also try your suggestion too.
My biggest concern, is that the RG-65 class has been around for 30 years, while the IOM - well not so long as that. I have to make sure (I promised Maximo) that any constitution and bylays I write will walk the fine line between AMYA and RG65-ICA.
Add in a few details I want to discuss with our group (like a National regatta every “other” year due to high fuel/travel costs) and some detail on “sponsorships” and sail graphics as example.
Dick
No problem Dick. If they don’t turn up, I’ll re-do them. I’m suffering a bit of keyboard fatigue at present, having just translated a 50K word treatise on the history of Mediterranean seafaring, but that’s going to pay for the r/c installation on my boat:D
I’ve uploaded a translation in word on the RG-65 usergroup site.
Thanks Martin - left you a message on the site. Very much appreciated so now I can proceed with working on the class recognition which may require these documents.
You have been a tremendous help in this effort, along with a few other very active and helpful people outside the U.S.
Dick

If you by chance find yourself anywhere near Minneapolis, be sure to let me know ahead of time - there will be a beer (or wine/soda) waiting for you.
Tks for the offer, Dick, but I can’t see myself travelling unless maybe the ICA organises a World Championship in Spain some day. Anyway, I’m glad to have been able to contribute my bit in the cause of Anglo-Hispanic relations and getting a “new” class off the ground.:zbeer:
Hi friends,
take a look to this,
http://picasaweb.google.com/RG65.iDM.08/IDM08RG65#
there are photos of the 4th German National Championship 2008.
Hi,
yes, we have a new champion. Arne Semken from Lübeck won with his brandnew design Viperfish. Second is Steven Karalus from Alt-Stahnsdorf (nearby Berlin), third is Ulrich Burbath from Vietgest nearby Rostock. Both sailed with a modified Vanquish-Design.
Congratulations!
I see a number of the boats in the German nationals are using swing rigs. Does anyone have any information concerning the location of the mast for a swing rig on a Jif 65?
Also are there diagrams of swing rig construction and correct ratio of jib and main area
Hi,
personally I have no experience with swing rigs, but there is an actual thread in the German forum: http://www.rg65.de/forums/showthread.php?tid=541
Have a look at it, may be, it is helpful for you.
As far as I know the sail area ratio is between 25/75% and 30/60%. The later ratio is more or less the limit for swing rigs. The jib should not be bigger than 30% for a swing rig.
Mast position ist usually around 1.5 cm in front of the position of a conventional mast (I was told …)
