Does anyone know if there is a web site for RC land yachting? I don’t mean for buying one, but for a sanctioning body? I’m wanting to find some more information about it.
Thanks.

Hello Friend.
Check out the Stealth S2.
As far as I know, the S2 is the only true One Design Land Yacht out there.
It is available through the Model Sailing Center-the North American distributor for the RC Laser.
I don’t know of a sanctioning body, but the Stealth appears to be on the right track.
I’ve been watching the development of this sailcraft for some time now. I think they would be really fun in the wind we get here on the great plains. Like sonic boom material

Hey everyone…
After some more research, I found this web site…
also, these boats look particularly cool…

I had no idea there were so many resources… sounds like another hobby to explore (or is it just an extension of the same one?)!

Hi Guys,
Glad to see there’s some interest in this fledgling hobby! I’ve been doing it for about 4 years now, both on land & ice. We’ve got a viable international organization going (www.ircssa.org) & will be holding the North American championships this March at Dry Lake Ivanpah in Primm, Nevada. This will be done in conjunction with the America’s Cup races of the full sized land yachts (www.nalsa.org ).
Class rules are simple “in the box” dimensions which allows alot of developmental innovation with things such as rotating wingmast unirigs. I’ve been vacuum bagging foam core fully battened wingmasts. Check out more links at the bottom of my webpage:

Bill,
Thanks for the information. Obviously I’m a nut for anything sail powered and RC controlled, so one of these might just make for a new project (gotta get my other projects done first) in the near future.
We don’t get thick ice for very long here, so the iceboat version wouldn’t be as appealing, but we have plenty of flat parking lots here in Kansas.

Andy…
We wouldn’t have to worry about water in the hulls or custom hatches…or too much chop on the pond.
But then, we would probably need a new set of tires every thousand miles or so.
Bill
Yeah, as Bill K said, the official website is www.ircssa.org
If you know italian you can also have a look at www.carriavela-rc.com (or even if not italian, just use babelfish or similar on-line translators)
There are both development classes (the one subject to box-rule) and onedesign classes (like the S2, Stiletto, WindJammer, LS3)
A good site if you want to look for design tips is the one made by the “father” of LS3 http://www.rclandsailing.com/

Hello to all interested land sailors, We will be hosting a Mid/Northeastern regional regatta this spring/summer. The area would be around the Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnisota area. The site will be determined by the central location of those who are interested. The date has yet to be determined. We are working on participation prizes from different sponsors. Gougeon Brothers are already locked in, I am working with Tower Hobbies right now, and working on other ideas also. If you are interested, please send an email to: tsunami38@msn.com. Please put a subject on your email stating “landyacht” so I don’t boot it out of my email. Also if you know of a good site: football field sized parking lot with little or no trees and smooth pavement, or a retired air field with no trees and nice surface, contact me also. Would like to look at all from the above locations. Thanks in advance and Happy Sailing! John Kuhn - Bay City RC Landsailors www.baycityrclandsailors.com
