I have a Futaba 2PHKA in my rescue boat. When I’m doing a range check (antenna down) and get about 25’ away the rudder starts to twitch. If I move my free hand (it’s a pistol grip) around the transmitter the twitching gets worse. I have noise suppression on the motor but this happens even when the motor is not running. The problem gets worse until at about 50’ I have no control. With the antenna up I start having control problems at about 100’. I am going to borrow my brother-in-laws radio (same system) to try and isolate this to transmitter or receiver but I thought I would put this problem out there to see if anyone had any ideas.

Where is the aerial positiond in the boat?

I had a similar problem on my multihull and found that the aerial needed to be outside the boat.

Another member had a similar problem but his was the fact that the aerial on the hand set was lose.

I have since discovered that the problem is something to do with the ESC. I am going to disconnect the BEC and see if that helps.
