Thanks for the offer but the building list is kind of full at the moment.Have to finish of KZ 7 and then have a one off to build for another customer as well as a couple of Aussie II’s to build.
So whilst I cant build one myself I shall be very interested to see how it goes.

Is there any interest in an easy-to-build hard-chine Phiget using some fairly radical construction tecniques. Probably not quite as fast as you could go, but an easy, painless toe in the water?

Yes (subject to the cenre of gravity requirements). That was part of the idea.

If you add the extra 250 g in the bulb, the CG ius likely to be too low to be legal as a Phiget. Combination of weight in bulb and in the boat (see the Phiget rules. The CG is very easy to measure).

Good, good idea.
I am teaching in south Italy, and from five years organize the provincial championship of remote-controlled sail class IOM for students. Class PIGIT would be optimal to student level and news sperimentations. Can we in Italy create a club for class PIGIT here from the schools ?
Live in Caserta, city near Naples and the place for regattes is the “Peschiera Grande” borbonic monument for olds naval model ships.

I think you wuld be very welcome and that it would be a brilliant idea. I would contact Lester Gilbert who runs the class for the time being. He can be contacted through www.onemetre.net. If you want I have designs for both a conventional round-bottomed Phiget and an ‘easy build’ hard chine boat. I can let you have these at no cost.

Lester,
the idea of the class Phigit is brilliant why economic simple they works. I think it very adapted to the schools.
To such aim it authorizes to me :
Translate your PHIGIT webpage - class rules etc. In Italian language and publish it ?
linking your input pages for registration boats ?
to make to record the boats (on your site), of the schools that re-enter in class PHIGIT ?
to create italian association Phigit for the italian schools?

Arrived new radiosailing class in Italy, alive PHIGIT !
Class PHIGIT has been chosen which radiosailing class 2007 for Provincial Royal Regatta Studenteschi Sports Caserta distrect and it is hoped can make from example for the other distrects.
The reasons of this choice are:

  • A radio sailing class simple to manage and to construct, can indeed be used a various hull possessing hangs them already to us and sails IOM,
  • brilliant the idea of the simple gauge in order to measure the tonnage,
    -optimal the idea to send in pension the “stazzatori” through simple -self-forms, optimal the idea to record on line free of charge the hulls,
    -optimal the idea of the free number of radio chanals.

Thanks Gilbert in Italy we had just need of smaller technicality, and one Didactics radio sailing class and to measure of student here.

Great video and impressive performance for a monohull of this size.

I certainly am in awe of the wonderful venue for sailing. Sure beats our local ponds with cattails, weeds, and having to wade to launch and retrieve. I wish we could convince our local politicians to build a pond like that!
