MUSEUM OF YACHTING ANNOUNCES OPENING OF NEW EXHIBIT
?THE WORLD OF MODEL YACHTS?

On May 15, 2004 the Museum of Yachting will open its? newest exhibit ?THE WORLD OF MODEL YACHTS? which will feature the largest collection of scale model yachts ever to be displayed together in the world. This exhibit will depicts a remarkable snapshot of yachting history featuring scale model boats of all sizes and descriptions in the context of the development of full-scale designs. From 9-foot J Boat models to 56-inch 12-Meters with America?s Cup heritage, this exhibit will illustrate the sport of model yachting and its encompassing influence on yacht design from the mid-1800s to the present day. Vintage 1900s-1960s gas and steam- powered models will also be on display representing the sport of tethered speedboat racing.

To bring this exhibit to life, The Museum of Yachting will host several American Model Yachting Association sanctioned events including:
May 22-23 Model Yachting for Youths - Mentoring Event with CR-914s
September 4 J Class & EC-12 Meter Class Invitational Regatta
October 9-10 J Class & EC-12 Meter Class Regional Championships

Model boat building and sailing for kids will also be featured at the Museum throughout the 2004 season.

The World of Model Yachts is presented in collaboration with the U.S. Vintage Model Yacht Group and the American Model Yachting Association.

The Museum of Yachting located at Historic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI is open to the public from 10am-5pm, May 15- October 31. Admission is $5.00 for Adults, $4.00 for Seniors & Children. Ample Free Parking. For additional information call 401/847-1018 or visit www.museumofyachting.org.
