NOR: Northern Virginia Multi Regatta Weekend (11-12 September 2010)

The Northern Virginia Model Yacht Club (NVMYC) will be hosting back-to-back Victoria class regattas on 11 and 12 September 2010. The events will be sailed at the Washington Sailing Marina, located in Alexandria Virginia.

The first regatta is the Leukemia Cup–This event is a fund raiser in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We will sail in conjunction with the full-sized boats of the Potomac River Sailing Association (PRSA). A $100 entry/donation fee is requested of all skippers (sponsorship is highly encouraged). Details for the event, and registration, can be found at: http:\www.leukemiacup.org/nca/localchapter. We expect a large number of spectators and would love to have a strong showing of R/C skippers, so please consider attending. If you cannot participate in person, donations are greatly appreciated. Several club members have donation websites that can be accessed through the event page (click through the donation links and search for a club members name.
The second regatta is the PRSA Presidents Cup/NVMYC Victoria Club Championship–This event will be sailed in conjunction with the PRSA full-sized boats and will serve as our clubs annual Victoria Class Championship. Information about this event can be found at: http://potomacriversailing.org. Additionally, the NOR’s are posted in the files section of this group or you can visit our club www page at: http://www.nvmyc.com

If the sailing is not enough to convince you to attend, there will also be food, drinks, raffles, and entertainment all weekend long.

I just wanted to jog everyone’s memory about the Leukemia Cup Regatta the NVMYC
is hosting this September a week before nationals.

Top Ten

  1. Where else can you go to a regatta and write off the entry fee as a tax
    deductible donation…
  2. I don’t see any other clubs getting outback steakhouse to Cater Dinner on
    Friday Night
  3. Breakfast on Saturday
  4. Lunch on Saturday
  5. Dinner on Saturday
  6. The nations capital…So close to congress you can smell it…
  7. Family friendly event
  8. You get to see yet another Pair of Brians Pants (ok so maybe not so freindly)
  9. If you can’t get into Nats as a result of the funky registration, come sail
with us, we don’t care how good or bad you are…
  10. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a great organization and while we get
the benefit of sailing, you really get to help others.

I had set my goal at $100 buck for donations. and I’m now over $400…It is very
easy to get donations. credit card, and you get a receipt for taxes… you can’t
beat how simple it is… The club has put together over $1000 in donations.
Please don’t let the entry fee scare you away, if you have questions shoot me an
email.
