Mast Rake

Anybody out there that can tell me what they use as a starting point for mast rake in an IOM? I’ve read on anderswallin.net that the ‘Noux’ IOM has 5 degrees of rake. This appears to be very excessive. All input would be appreciated. Way back in the dark ages we used to start with the mast vertical and rake it until we had speed and the slightest touch of weather helm. But I never seem to have the time - turning up at the venue with 1/2 hour to spare before racing.

Thanks TF

in any sailing boats, raking the mast create the move of the CE. It is thus evident that for the best performances you need to found the amont of rake you need during the “tuning”. According to my understandig it may varies from 1 to 3 degres.
