Hello as this did not get any response in another forum thought I would try here.
I am planing on making my own fin, with foam core and carbon fiber and E glass, I was wondering how many layers of carbon would be required, as well how many layers in total, regular glass included? This is for a IOM triple crown.
With a decently solid foam core, one layer of relatively heavy uni-directional carbon, and one (or two) layers of 5.3(+/-) oz plain weave carbon laid on a 45 degree bias should do fine. I’ll try and find the specs on the uni that we tend to use.
