I’m just about to build a new boom(to replace the bendy one) and I was looking at the jib pivot position. I don’t think I have ever moved it from the 25% mark. Is there any point in making this adjustable. I use a topping lift so I don’t need it for leach tension.
Thanks
Don
Lester Gilbert discusses this from the perspective of the effect on forestay and jib leach tension at this link

I have not found any discussion of sail efficiency for a variable jib swivle offset.
A moderatel offset (20 to 25%) moves the jib tack to weather when closehauled. I think this provides some benefit for poining but cannot quote a source,
A large offset would affect offwind sailing by placing too much of the jib behind the main when running wing and wing.
