After Day 5, the Worlds are still pretty exciting.

An analysis of designs in the top 20 or so should restore faith in the closeness of IOMs. Martin Roberts continues to work magic with his Gadget, while Chris Harris, with another Gadget, is in 7th place - Triple Crown owners take note. Peter Stollery is currently in 5th place with his Isotonic. Trevor Binks continues to perform well with his Isis. I don’t know anything about the Coatian boats in 6th and 11th places at present.

It goes to show that you don’t need the latest design to perform. You need to be a very good skipper, with a well prepared boat that you know well.

And for those who believe a boat with a chine cannot be competitive - check out David Potter’s boat currently in 22nd place, with five finishes in the top 10, including a 2nd and a 3rd.

Great stuff.
