It has come to light that many of the boats of Southwater Dabblers are technically illegal in that their steering gear is set too low - it does not fit within the ‘V’ of the box.
There is no question of this having been done to achieve any speed advantage. Accordingly Gosport MPBYC, the hosts of the event have decided that the rules will be relaxed for this event, and this event only. Any boat wHich appears to be intended in good faith to be a Fopty and does not measure for purely technical reasons will be allowed to race.
So please do not be put off if you’re not sure your boat measures. You will not be made to look a cheat or a fool. Just turn up and enjoy the fun!
