Glass lay up

What is the advantage to using multiple lays of cloth? Is three lays of 2oz any better than one lay of 6 oz? Stronger? Lighter? Why?
I’ve run out of question marks

Don - my view would be that the matrix made up of multiple layers would tend to be stronger than a single layer. Add in the ability to lay at diagonals - or in the same direction to discourage or encourage the bending of the plies when done. Multiple layers should also reduce the numbers of pinholes found in a single layer matrix. I think the strength would be the biggest benefit. (in my opinion)

Think of it like plywood - more plies = stronger panel & stiffer panel

Don,

The main benefit is lack of pinholes on multiple layers of finer grade cloth and way less imprinting from weave when painted I reckon.
