Fuller bow?

Hey all,

Has anyone tested a plan for a Footy classed yacht that has a fuller bow section? I had my Bob-A-Bout out in 20mph gusts (ya gotta love Kansas lakes) and found it highly overpowered. So much that it sub’d more than my Vic ever has.

Just an idea for you designers out there.

Build a smaller rig for heavy air.
305mm high from the deck will do the trick.

A foot long… The problem will obviously be the lack of longitudinal stability; Even with the 50cm’s it is the dimensioning factor. Have you tried the rudder foil ?

Quite effective for the heavy winds

Yes.
I have used a rudder foil with good sucess.
The “new rules” however forbid this foil for better or worse I don’t know.
