FROZEN FOOT RACE DAY : NOVEMBER 2nd 2008 : WOOD LAKE, KOHLER, WI.

Hello skippers,
We intend to run a low key footy race day on Sunday 2nd November
from 12 noon until about 4pm or when we get too cold. Racing will be
around a triangular course and all boats should comply to the Footy
Rules (attached)with one exception;
Where scale like boats have cabins or crew which stand above the
normal limit of the top of the measuring box, these will be allowed
to race. This is in line with the early days of footy racing
where ‘pocket cruisers’ were the order of the day.

We want to encourage allcomers to have a go with whatever footy you
have. No need to be AMYA Class or Footy Class registered. We do need
sail numbers in most cases so if your boat is registered then you
should display the last two digits on the main sails in the usual
way. Non registered boats will be asked to carry a jib number or at
least be distinguishable in some way to the race scorer.

This will be more of a low key event than the Sheboygan Footy Fest
and will be the basis for occasional race days throughout next summer
if we have enough interest. Footys are great fun as those who already
sail them know. They can be different things to different people from
serious racing boats to garden pond cruisers. We want to encourage
them all to come together for these race days. Believe me battling
for last place is just as much fun as taking the win in a footy race.

So if you want to be involved please email me back for more details,
location etc. For a few photos of the venue and the May regatta take
a look at http://www.scalesailing.com/regattas.htm

We hope to see you here,
