I’ve built two footies to Bretts original ‘Bobabout’ design for my grandchildren and have fitted them with 8oz bulbs which I made by hammering square section, bomb shaped fishing weights into a round section. I am wondering what the optimum bulb weight should be as it is not specified in the rules.
500g is a good all up weight for the “BobAbout” design.
So weigh the boat when finnished and subtract it from 500g…this will be the weight of the bulb for the boat to float on her lines.
If built carefully you should be able to use about 200g for ballast.
