Esterel footy

Little OT without being one !
I have repaired the vacuum cleaner. It will be used for the Thermal-Vac Former.
Some roofs and canopy could be made with the box I go to build.
Here the picture of the guilty element actually forgiven !! hehe !!
Was a complicated work with several interconnected plastic stuff. Finally no one screw left !!
Unfortunately the extractor was not part of my tooling.

Close to finish !!

The Esterel Footy adventure arrive to the End with some delay !

Launch at the first opportunity to go to the pond. (it may take some time since I’m supposed to go back to the other 1.2.3. ESTEREL)

PS: Paint dry process

Paint sufficiently dry to manipulate the ESTEREL Footy.
Missing the numbers & letters on the sail. Mask ready.

Hi Claudio,

What can I say? Other than this is truly a phenomenal achievement - 60 days from genesis to realisation is going to be a tough act to follow, you are to be wholeheartedly congratulated!

To hijack what some may consider to be a sexist comment, ‘nice colour…’. Seriously though, what is that colour called? In the meantime I’m really looking forward to seeing the ‘Esterel Footy’ on the water and of course reading your thoughts on her handling characteristics.

As an aside, I’ve never really been interested in boats of this size but I reckon you’ve certainly grabbed my attention and I may even have been converted…!!

Best of luck with the sail trials - if she performs half as well as she looks then you must be onto a winner.

Regards

Row

End Of Story !!!

ESTEREL in Day Light

Hi Row,
very kind words that certainly I appreciate very much.
For me too is a model that is not part of my preferred ones. Was a sort of trial to see what I could do with the that Box Rules.
Now is not quite finished since the launch is not yet done, but for that I can wait…
The colour I choose is close to the “Azure” since leaving in the “Cote d’Azur”
It represent the sky at midday, see : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azure_(color)
The dark blue contour instead represent the sea.

Is time now to go back where I was, more precisely with the ESTEREL 1.2.3.

I do not forget anyhow that my atelier is still full of models that are in standby waiting for me : NZL-20, Enterprise, American Eagle,…

Best regards,
ClaudioD

PS : the n° on the sail are just graphic work on the picture !

That has been a great build. I hate to see it end.
Beautiful boat.

Terry

Thanks Terry.
It is not excluded to come back with some assembly modifications like the rudder stock inside the hull as well the canopy to adds aesthetics that I did not managed to make. I do have the material to make the thermal vacuum former. The idea is to get a clean hull appearance with only one sheet coming out. Access to change the battery shall be improved. Larger sail surface and lighter rig ? may be…
A new full hull form may be studied too since the Box Rules are very stimulating !
I would wish similar rules also for bigger models !
Cheers
Claudio

Just passing through while waiting the gel coat preparation for the bigger sister, I understood a lot from another discussion and here are the results from the learn lesson.
The main advantage is the reduction in height of the CE that give better lateral stability with the same bulb of 260g and increased Sail surface.

A new configuration view for the Esterel 2

ClaudioD

Although I’m not dealing anymore with Footy designs, I’m nevertheless pleased to report this information received yesterday by Dalibor Sebera : 21 Esterel Footy constructed (14 in the Czech Republic and 7 in Poland).

The only other boat that I’m aware of with a box rule would be the British 36R.

On the mulltihull scene, the Mini40 / Formula48 are considered “box rule” boats.
