Netherlands-based Shapeways is a community for consumers where they can “print” 3D objects n plastic or metal and share the items. The site uses 3D industry standard file formats (STL, Collada, X3D) and the average cost of items is $50 - $150. Shapeways is a spin-out startup from an incubator programme at Philips Electronics, in Eindhoven.
