I love the Dremel jigsaw, it has a driver for a sanding disc also. Xacto hand saws and lots of no. 11 knife blades. The most important “tool” is super glue debonder. Clyde

What materials are you going to be using Wis? My first decent model making tools were a modeling knife, razor saw and a cutting mat, but I started building with balsa…

Luff 'em & leave 'em.

I ll work probably on plywood or/and balsa as for now…cant see me working on anything else NOW…

wis this is about all you need, for thin balsa and ply.

If you’re going to be cutting thick ply you will need a real saw.

Tools I use almost every day (and wouldn’t be without):

Bandsaw
Disc sander
Cordless drill
Swann Morton knife + No. 11 blades
Various steel rules in different lengths
A long ally sanding block
A Granite worksurface… it’s very very very flat
A dozen different types of clamp

Tools that are almost indespensable:

Pillar drill
Fretsaw
Metal lathe
Wood chisels
Block planes
Bench Grinder

Tools that are nice to have:

“Dremmel” (mine isn’t)
Jigsaw
Angle grinder

Not to mention pliers, screwdrivers, etc, etc, etc.

Tools I think I need:

Circular saw
Wood lathe
Planer thicknesser

I’m pretty sure there’s many more to add to the list… My advice… just buy them!

I have a drill, a sander and a small collection of hand tools. My work bench is the dining room table in the dining/living room of my one bedroom condo with white rugs.

As long as you don’t use CF most of the dust is white so it doesn’t really matter.

Now that’s an attitude I like… I gave up vacuuming the house ages ago, 'cos there’s so many shavings that it just clogs the vac. cleaner… and I don’t even work in the house.

The belt on the vacuum broke so I won’t be doing the rug. So one of my tools is down.
