The Footy rule limits the bowsprit to 6.3 m diameter. Is it acceptable to mount accessories on the bowsprit (like cleats) which exceed that limitation? The objective is to make it easy to change sails.
Walt, the fittings don’t have to fit within the 6.3mm circle.
The rule says “F.3 Fittings shall be no bigger than is reasonably required for their primary purpose(s).”
It’s a bit of a judgement call, but if the fittings have a clear purpose, seem appropriately sized for that purpose, and don’t appear to be some kind of performance cheat, they are legal.
