What size/type of battery would be best suited for a USOM with a Futaba S5801 sail winch. The boat may need a bit of ballast to float on it’s lines so weight isn’t a huge factor. Thank you for your help.

That winch can run on 7.2V and has BEC giving 6v to the receiver.
So I would not hesitate to use 7.2v.
I use batteries like this for my RMG winch and carry a spare to swap during a regatta if necessary. I cut off their plug and installed Deans. I would recommend keeping the weight down and so suggest going with swappable 1100ma rather than a single 2200ma
