I agree John and further, as there is a rather large (we hope) regatta planned in 3 months, the Footy NCR no less. I think that the new rules need to be implemented and ratified by the AMYA very quickly, by the first of the year perhaps. Or held over until after that event at the beginning of March. To allow the new rules to come into effect somewhere between those two dates in the USA would seem like shooting ourselves in the foot :scared:
Paul wrote… “I have a new hull sitting on the bench and need to know if the AA rule will remain in force for that event before I can work out my C of G. ”
Paul… what has the Alchoholics Anonymous rule and Crate of Gin got to do with it anyway?
Merry Christmas guys, feel the footy love

I’m with Graham on this, timing of rule change implementation in the US does need looking at to avoid affecting the Orlando event. Old or revised rule works, but please let us know what rule we’ll be complying with. AA is where I may end up if I finish off the C of G, though it might be better to work on the C of R since I’ve developed an allergic reaction to the aromatics in Bombay Sapphire. Goslings Rum is nutritious and mixes with almost anything.
Darrell, Butch, and I have agreed that the best approach is to use the existing AMYA rules for the March National regatta.
I feel that trying to get the new ones published, then ratified by AMYA members during the holidays would be problematic…I don’t want to rush this and mess it up (again.)
Even if we could do it quickly, I think some skippers would feel like they didn’t have a fair chance to adapt their boats to the changed rules. By using the old rules, people may not like the AA battery restriction, but it’s the same for all.
Darrell has the last word on this, as it’s his race. I’m sure he’ll publish his decision soon.

Thanks Bill, sensible suggestion and no-one can complain about being blindsided.
That sounds like the best way to go Bill.
