Americas cup gossip

Hello everyone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dokkkqBcyPQ

I wonder what would happen if, instead of putting a bulb in the windward side (as in the video), we somehow, we put a float on the leeward side, so that the boat does not heel.
This is my question to myself for several months, how to change the float from side to side.
With this technique we would save the heavy bulb.
Maybe this is a stupid idea, but I will keep thinking about it.

Regards

It’s called a catamaran, and in the Forumula48 Class, moving ballast (including water) is allowed.

Estimated dick, what I try to do is precisely to eliminate mobile ballast, it increases the displacement.
I’m trying to replace by a float on the other side of where you would put the ballast.

See you later navigator, you gave me a good idea.

Kind regards.

Gidday Norman, hopefully you’ll be starting a build log ? in the case of multi’s I’m thinking for RC versions bigger is better as you have some weight to play with for better stability …just my 2 cents

Cheers Alan

Any one want to place bet that OR will be rebuilding this boat soon !? boat balance looks ass about face with foils way forward and main raked to hell

Claudio, reckon the LVC good possible be better racing than the final AC itself … don’t discount ETNZ reflection :stuck_out_tongue: the Italians are looking hot

ETNZ and Oracle on the water “near” each other (I don’t know how to embed the video here)

Thanks TH, I never noticed the buttons.

It’s good to see that the big boats are very maneuverable, but is the bay big enough for an honest curse?

Hew-
Just copy the URL ofthe video, and use the Insert video button from the middle toolbar:

Some of the Artemis guys out on their moths … now this is flying a mono, amazing !

Just comparing two contenders size wise :

are almost the same, probably the ETNZ Mast is 50cm forward

Claudio

Interesting Claudio:

ETNZ delta from foil to mast step = 91/LWL = 4.16%

OR delta from foil to mast step = 54/LWL = 2.46%

From those numbers indicates OR could be more twitchy ?

Similar comparison done on SA forum shows similar, possibly bigger difference !

Oracle better get used to that view…

Bugger, spilled my morning coffee over the keyboard again this morning …

wishing Mrs Kiwi120 would get as half excited about sailing as this women apparently does ? (turn sound up) or was this J.S on the O.R spy boat ?

//youtu.be/SJCn5DmutGI

For the benefit of viewers, the woman in question has now been positively identified; (wait for it!!)

Mrs. Fay Coregasm

Sorry, couldn’t resist…

Row

Obviously the cameraman was more interested in filming the boat than the B rate amateur porn he was supposed to be filming…

I pity the poor guy…when he’s in bed laying on his back staring up at the ceiling thinking “Christ, she made more noise when that damn boat sailed by…”

With OR fly past on the same boat J.S on seeing Fay Coregasm jumped ship … but was caught by the chase boat before he reached her

Come’on Jimmy back to work mate !

ok ok here is JS side of the story …but I still reckon it was Row’s Fay Coregasm

Now just image this was a race, 20 knot wind and rolling through a Jibe and helmsman goes overboard … scary movie !!!

The Kiwi tractor is now foiling through gybe’s :spin: (@ 2:15) …game set & match to ETNZ !!!

I’d be changing my underwear :smilebig:

poor judgement on the rower to be out in the middle of nowhere, but even worse judgment for Oralce to split the guy like that the between two high speed boats.
