36/600…what are the options?
I know of Bob Sterne’s Venom
Denis Desprois Orco series and the “new” Gambit…
are there any others?

wis,
cr 914 can be considered as a 36/600. good kit boat popular in the states as well as in japan
ed
Not much 36/600 activity anymore, most interest in the smaller racign boats are in the US1M and IOM. 36/600 principally sailed in the Scottsdale Arizona area with a few pockets elsewhere in the US. National champion for most of the last ten years has been the Sterne Venom and is the boat of choice if you want to be at the front of the fleet. Neil Goodrich of New York has a design that he has won with, but I don’t think copies are for sale. Orco was desgined by Swede Johnson. CR914 is not a competitive 36/600.

I’m guessing you’ve found a fleet of 36/600s in Japan?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
though they accept my Seawind [;)]
here are the choices,
CR914 (got A Seawind…why bother)
36/600…many many Orco’s, 1 Gambit, 2-3 Venoms
M’s…dont even think about it
10R…my wife will KILL ME…
not much IOM’s activity…though, some people are sailing them in Tokyo…now the question is: 36/600 or IOM…???
getting an IOM wouldn’t be a problem, though I didn’t really like them (always thought you needed a lawyer whenracing)…but I could also sail in Europe during vacation…which is VERY nice point.
Of course I won’t open a debate IOM vs 36/600…there is no choice, the logic would say IOM…
But I wanted to know the options in the 36/600 world…
Thanks for the input guys

Would you be interested in building your own hull if you had the plans?
Muzza
building is a word which is not yet in my vocabulary…
The only things I’ve built as for now:
But thanks for the offer! I really appreciate

If you want a winning 36/600 buy a Venom. And yes, in today’s world, logic says IOM.
wis,
there are lots of iom activities in japan, visit their page at http://www.geocities.co.jp/HeartLand/2312/srf_home.htm

Ed,

Thanks…hmmm IOM time I guess…but it’ll be an used! wait and see
Cheers

wis,
should you decide to go iom, i suggest you get a good used boat, sail around, get to know its characteristics, then get a new hull, transplant the rigs, appendages, electrics etc. and presto! you have a competetive boat. nice things about ioms, you can sail in almost any wind conditions not to mention sea conditions. narrow or canoe hulls tend to do better in light winds while wide hulls seem to be heavy weather boats. just my opinion, doesnt mean i’m correct
ed
Ed,
WE both know that you are right [;)]…I’ve never thought I’d go IOM one day…how things changed!
A topic started with 36/600 and now, I (we) are talking IOM.
As I should get some money next week (CROSS MY FINGERS (no comment as for now))…maybe SOON I’ll ask around for an used IOM…narrow hull, I guess, but well I am not there yet…
Thanks for the help…so, if everything goes as I hope…soon I’ll be asking infos about used IOM’s [;)]…
Cheers to all, and thanks
