hey i was thinkin of designing a new cat type boat. lookin at about 20-24 inches long with about a 35 inch mast… now i just need a little bit of input on how to make the foils for it, i was just going to use construction foam with an epoxy coating to harden it. any ideas?
i love tinkering with these boats it takes up time i’m sure my girfreind is going to hate it soon
Do you mean a single masted main only monohull? For info on foils(fin, rudder) look under “Technology” :“Keel Deflection in canting and standard systems”. Several posts about one off foils… I’m in the process of building a 24" catboat as a CK Trainer proto-main only ,mast stepped in the boom to allow for a very small sail servo, canting keel-see the CK Trainer thread-this section. There may be others building or who have built more traditional small catboats…
i hadn’t thought of a main only cat boat but that would actually be alot simpler… i’m lookin for simplicity here. but yeah if you have any tips like on materials that would work better for making hulls and how to make two identical hulls i’d appreciate it, o and a gooseneck for a victoria sailboat from scratch i have a post about that up but not to many responses and you seem to know what yur talkin bout. thanks

After the success of the North’s 600, this years challenge is a 800mm mutli hull class. I have not got the spec’s yet but i think they are 800 mm long, 600 mm wide, 1050 high (hull draft to mast head, 200 mm long bow & stern bunkins??? 2 channels.
Will comfirm details when they come thru.
