1.8m ACC "V6" design

Great to see pics of some close match racing. I’m intrigued though, what makes V6 easier to sail than ‘The Box’?

Is that a spinnaker on the last pic ? can you tell us a little about this set-up ?

B2 (red sail strips?) appears to have larger sail area, is this the main reason for being faster ?

Cheers Alan

B2 (red stripes) is the new boat and is different in a number of ways:
-slightly longer 1"
-taller mast 6"
-Longer main boom & jib boom
-More ballast 16.6-19.5
-Mast & keel position moved back 3" ( a HUGE improvement downwind in a breeze!)
-LCB moved back to allow the above
-Shorter bulb
-Larger more generous foils. More resistant to stalling

Also the new hull form while very boxy is not as square forward. The old design had major issues tacking in waves when the hull form stood up, it tended to pound & stop.
Here’s a little video from yesterday:

John, both look like they sail really well, can see down wind speed on B2 in short clip  Like the high aspect rudders too.

Question about CLP/CE coupling, is the CE aligned with front of the Keel fin ?

Cheers Alan

Thanks, they are both quite quick with the new boat benefiting from out testing with “The Box”.
The CLP/CE relationship is as you described.

Here’s a few more spinnaker pics, they were a lot of fun to take! Not at all practical for racing, our dousing method is to catch up in the tender and cut the halyard…!

Some video of the A Sail session.

A little testing this past weekend in 15-25. Here’s a shot on the lower end with the “B” size sails on.
