2009 Footy Rules

Thank you as always for your responses Angus. You are hitting a whole bed full of nails on the head. I know that like myself you abhor loose ends. It is so good to see so many supporters here of the ideal of ‘one rule’.

I hope this will clarify confusion and bring everyone up to date regarding the AMYA Footy rules.

When I asked for the Footy Class to be sanctioned by AMYA, I submitted the rules. They are published on the AMYA site. The clause I added on the site about following the international rules has been determined NOT to be an actual part of the rules. Therefore, we need to have a ballot for AMYA members to adopt the international rules.

Many of you will probably interpret this as a technicality, but it is the reality, and there’s no getting around it.

Therefore, I’ve prepared a ballot and cover letter to be distributed to AMYA Footy skippers only. I just submitted it to John Hanks for approval, so please be patient. It is based on the wording the IOM class uses to get around the problem we have. Hopefully, I’ll be able to send it out soon.

Here’s the motion I submitted, seconded by John Amoroso:

Moved: To delete the existing AMYA Footy Class rules and replace them with the following:

“AMYA FOOTY CLASS RULES

1.0. The AMYA Footy Class adopts the current international Footy Class Association rules, together with all applicable rules referenced therein, with the following exceptions:
1.1. There are currently no exceptions.”

If the motion is approved by John, and if it is subsequently passed, we won’t have to go through this double ballot process again.

I was just going to suggest you add something that will have AMYA adopt any future amendments or changes as as approved by the FCA.

If possible, can you post a short description of the procedure, including the important date(s) and address(es) when the ballots go out?

EVERYBODY GET YOUR VOTING STICKS READY!

thx

Hello Angus,

I seem to recall reading some time ago on this list that the New Zealand Footy contingent had decided not to ratify the new changes to the rules, much in the same manner of your concerns as to what may happen should the coming AMYA ratification fail to pass. Is there any news on this? And should the AMYA ratification not occur, are any options being considered to deal with this issue in order to avoid a potential IFCA meltdown?
